Apartments Belvedere

You know what surprised me most about Apartments Belvedere? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet little street that feels completely removed from the hustle, even though you’re literally in the heart of Stari Grad. Gospodar Jevremova is one of those cobblestone streets where you can still hear your footsteps echo – honestly, I loved that about it. The building itself has this old Belgrade charm that you don’t find in those sterile modern places, and when you walk up (there’s an elevator, don’t worry), you get this sense that you’re staying somewhere with actual character.

The apartments themselves are – well, I mean, there’s a reason this place has a 9.6 rating. Everything just works the way it should, which sounds simple but you’d be amazed how many places mess up the basics. The kitchen actually has proper cookware if you want to grab some kajmak and ajvar from the market down the street, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like some places I’ve stayed. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from Skadarlija (that’s the bohemian quarter everyone talks about), but once you’re inside, it’s peaceful enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open. The beds are comfortable too – not too soft, not too firm, just right for collapsing after a day of wandering around Kalemegdan or getting lost in the old town.

Here’s the thing about the location that nobody really tells you: you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you feel like you’re living in Belgrade rather than just visiting it. The staff – and I don’t usually go on about this stuff – but they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about where to get good coffee that wasn’t touristy, the woman at reception sent me to this tiny place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (most of the surrounding streets are pretty narrow), but honestly, you won’t need a car from here anyway. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying at a hotel, if that makes sense – except everything’s cleaner and works better than most friends’ places.
