The name makes it sound like some sort of spiritual retreat, but honestly, it’s just a really well-run apartment hotel tucked into one of Belgrade’s most walkable neighborhoods. I mean, Vračar is where you want to be if you’re trying to get a feel for how locals actually live – not touristy, but not boring either.

The building itself sits on Dubljanska Street, which is this quiet residential stretch that somehow manages to be perfectly positioned for everything. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Slavija Square (though let’s be honest, that square is kind of a chaotic mess of traffic), but more importantly, you’re close to all those little cafes and shops along Kralja Milana where people actually hang out. The apartment I stayed in had these tall windows that let in so much light – you know how some places in the Balkans can feel a bit heavy and dark? Not here. Everything felt bright and, well, actually clean, which sadly isn’t always a given.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between hotel service and apartment independence. Check-in was smooth – no standing around wondering if anyone’s coming to let you in, which has definitely happened to me in Belgrade before. The kitchen was properly equipped too, not just some sad mini-fridge situation. I ended up cooking a few meals because there’s a decent market nearby, and honestly, after a few days of heavy Serbian food (which I love, don’t get me wrong), sometimes you just want to make yourself a simple salad. The Wi-Fi actually worked consistently, the hot water was reliable, and the beds were comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. Small things, but they add up when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM – you might hear some distant traffic from the main streets, but nothing that kept me awake. And here’s something I appreciated: they clearly know their local area. When I asked about getting to Kalemegdan, they didn’t just point me toward the tourist tram – they mentioned the walking route through the old part of Vračar that’s actually more interesting and takes about the same time. That’s the kind of insight you get when people actually care about what they’re doing rather than just going through the motions.
