You know what surprised me most about Apartment Petra 073? The moment I walked through that heavy wooden door on Cara Lazara, I completely forgot I was still technically in Belgrade’s city center. I mean, Stari Grad can get pretty hectic – especially during summer when the fortress area is crawling with tourists – but this little pocket feels almost residential, like you’ve stumbled into where actual Belgraders live.

The apartment itself is honestly better than most four-star places I’ve stayed in. Everything’s been thought through by someone who actually travels, not just decorated by someone flipping through a catalog. The kitchen has proper coffee (thank god, because Serbian hotel coffee can be… well, let’s just say it’s an acquired taste), and there’s this gorgeous view toward the old part of the city that’s particularly stunning around sunset. I spent way too many evenings just sitting by that window with a glass of rakija from the little shop downstairs. The bed’s actually comfortable too – I’m talking real sleep, not that tossing-and-turning thing you do in most rental places. And the bathroom has decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit when you’re walking around Belgrade’s cobblestones all day.

What really sold me on this place though is the location – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Skadarlija, which is perfect if you want that bohemian restaurant scene without paying tourist prices for everything else. The building sits right where the really touristy part of Stari Grad starts to fade into actual neighborhood life, so you get the best of both worlds. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s Belgrade, after all), but there’s usually something available on the side streets if you’re willing to walk a block or two. The 9.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places where small details add up to something genuinely special. The owner clearly knows the difference between hospitality and just renting out space, and that shows in everything from the welcome bottle of wine to the way they’ve stocked the place with actual necessities instead of just the bare minimum.
