You know what struck me first about Apartment Milos? It’s tucked away on Požeška Street in this quietly residential part of Čukarica, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. I mean, you’re not in the thick of Belgrade’s tourist chaos, but you’re not stranded in the suburbs either – it’s this sweet spot where actual locals live and go about their daily business.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The owner clearly knows what travelers need without overthinking it – there’s proper counter space in the kitchen (you’d be surprised how many places skimp on this), decent water pressure in the shower, and windows that actually open wide enough to let in fresh air. The Wi-Fi works reliably too, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done. What really impressed me was the attention to small details – like having a proper full-length mirror and enough electrical outlets that you’re not constantly unplugging things to charge your phone.

Getting around from here is surprisingly straightforward once you figure out the bus routes. The 23 line runs pretty regularly down Požeška and gets you into the city center in about 20 minutes, maybe 30 during rush hour. Parking isn’t the nightmare it is in Stari Grad – there’s usually space on the street, though weekends can get a bit tight when everyone’s visiting family in the neighborhood. The area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re one of those people who actually wants to sleep at night (unlike some of the party-heavy accommodations closer to Skadarlija). There’s a decent bakery about a five-minute walk away that opens early – I’m talking proper Serbian bread, not tourist stuff – and a small market where you can grab basics without having to trek to a big supermarket. The whole setup just feels… normal, I guess? Like you’re living in Belgrade for a few days rather than just passing through it.
