You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Mercedes? I mean, when you see an address on Omladinskih Brigada, you’re expecting one of those typical Novi Beograd concrete blocks – but this place actually has character. The building sits right in the heart of New Belgrade, and honestly, the location grows on you fast. You’re basically a fifteen-minute walk to the Danube riverfront, and there’s this whole strip of cafes and restaurants along the way that most tourists never discover.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there – not in a messy way, but in that comfortable “this isn’t just another sterile hotel room” way. The Mercedes folks clearly put thought into the details: proper blackout curtains (thank god, because those Novi Beograd streetlights are bright), a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Maxi market downstairs, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is fantastic. I’ve stayed in plenty of Belgrade apartments where you’re basically getting misted, so this was a pleasant surprise. The whole place feels spacious too, which is saying something for this part of the city where most accommodations feel cramped.

What really sold me though was how quiet it gets at night. Omladinskih Brigada can be busy during the day with all the local traffic heading to the business district, but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. You get this perfect balance – close enough to jump on a bus to Knez Mihailova or the old town in twenty minutes, but far enough from the party zones that you’ll actually sleep. The building has decent parking too, which anyone who’s driven in Belgrade will tell you is basically gold. I mean, trying to park anywhere near the city center is a nightmare, but here you’ve got options. Plus there’s something oddly satisfying about staying in “real” Belgrade, where locals actually live and work, instead of being stuck in the tourist bubble around Republic Square. The whole Novi Beograd area has this energy – it’s not pretty in a postcard way, but it’s authentic and bustling, and you’ll find yourself discovering little bakeries and corner shops that feel genuinely Serbian rather than designed for visitors.
