You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Ivy? Walking up to this unassuming building on Kraljevića Marka, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – the street’s pretty quiet, tucked away in Savski Venac where most tourists don’t really wander. But stepping inside, it’s like they’ve carved out this surprisingly polished little sanctuary in the middle of old Belgrade’s residential maze.

The thing is, this area actually works in your favor once you figure it out. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from Skadarlija (the cobblestone restaurant district that everyone raves about), but you’re staying where actual Belgraders live. I mean, there’s a proper bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM – the kind where old men gather for coffee and heated discussions about football. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a typical hotel setup. Everything’s clean and well-thought-out, though I’ll be honest, the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. The neighborhood gets quiet after 10 PM anyway, but sometimes you’ll hear neighbors coming home late.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits right between two worlds – you can walk down to the Sava riverfront in about ten minutes when you want that postcard Belgrade experience, or head the other direction toward Terazije when you need proper city energy. The host actually knows the area well (refreshing change from those generic welcome messages), and they pointed me toward this fantastic little wine bar on Dobračina Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking’s doable if you’re driving – there’s street parking that’s not too competitive, unlike the nightmare zones closer to the old town. Check-in was smooth, no awkward waiting around in lobbies or dealing with overly chatty desk clerks. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Belgrade, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city. You get a real sense of the neighborhood rhythm here, plus you’re close enough to everything important without paying those inflated prices they charge near Republic Square.
