Apartman Didi
You know those places where you walk in and immediately think "okay, this is going to be good"?
You know those places where you walk in and immediately think “okay, this is going to be good”? That’s exactly what happened when I first stepped into Apartman Didi on Kneginje Ljubice street. I mean, the address itself tells you something – you’re right in the heart of Stari Grad, which honestly is where you want to be if you’re doing Belgrade properly. None of that sterile business district stuff, but actual old-town vibes where you can hear the city’s real pulse.
The thing about this place is that it gets the details right in ways that matter. The apartment feels like someone actually lives there (in the best possible way), not like it was designed by a committee who’ve never traveled anywhere. The kitchen has proper coffee-making equipment – and I’m talking about gear that works, not some sad little pod machine. The windows open onto streets where you’ll hear normal Belgrade life happening, which depending on your perspective is either charming or something to know about if you’re a super light sleeper. Personally, I found it perfect background noise, especially in the evenings when people are heading out for dinner around 8 or 9.
What really sold me on this spot was how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Skadarlija – you know, that cobblestone area everyone talks about – but you’re not paying tourist-trap prices for every single thing. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down that does these incredible burek pastries in the morning, and honestly, that became part of my daily routine. The whole Kneginje Ljubice area has this lived-in feel where you’ve got local cafes mixed with small galleries and shops that aren’t trying too hard. Plus, getting to Kalemegdan fortress is just a pleasant stroll, not some epic journey involving maps and wrong turns.
The apartment itself runs like clockwork – check-in was smooth, everything worked (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given), and the space is laid out in a way that actually makes sense. I appreciated having room to spread out a bit, especially after spending days wandering around the city. The bathroom has good water pressure, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s enough natural light that you don’t feel like you’re living in a cave. These might sound like basic things, but you’d be surprised how many places mess up the fundamentals.
Look, Belgrade’s not Prague or Vienna – it’s grittier, more real, and sometimes a little rough around the edges. But that’s exactly why staying somewhere like Apartman Didi works so well. It matches the city’s energy without sacrificing comfort, and you end up feeling like you’re experiencing Belgrade from the inside rather than just passing through as another tourist with a checklist. The 9.8 rating isn’t some marketing fluke – it’s what happens when a place consistently delivers on what it promises, plus a few things you didn’t expect.

What Our Guests Say
Great location with lots of very good cafes and restaurants. Apartment is spacious and clean. Gordana is a wonderful host.
The apartment is spacious for the family of 4. Hot shower is always available. The kitchen is well equipped though we don’t cook much. The apartment is very warm, we even needed to reduce the heating.
What could be improved: The property is old style and maybe not to everyone’s liking, though we did like it and felt a bit of nostalgia.
The ring is hygienic and the facilities are beautiful! Beds are very comfortable!
We are very grateful to Gordana for a wonderful holiday. The location of the apartment is very convenient - 10 minutes walk time to the center. The apartment was quiet and very comfortable.
The kitchen was very well equipped - we had everything we needed.
We would also like to mention Gordana's hospitality, she always helped us and was always in contact with us for any questions.
The location was superb: lots of cafes, restaurants around. The apartment is very close to Skadarlija ( vintage street of Belgrad). It's also very close to a historical centre-Stari Grad). It's a beautiful atmosphere all around this place.
What could be improved: The only thing we didn't like was the sink in the bathroom: it was too high for both of us as we are short. Ha-ha-ha!
Great location with shops, bars, restaurants and supermarket within walking distance. Very spacious apartment with a balcony. The host was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed for our visit, one of the best hosts I have met on my travels. The apartment was very clean and had everything you would need for a short or long stay.
Amazing host, amazing location, interesting interior, double bed in one bedroom is incredibly huge!
The apartment is really well located - many sights, restaurants, and bars just outside - and very well equipped too with 5 real beds. The real highlight of the apartment is the host: extremely accommodating, polite and thoughtful. Thank you!
