A blok – One bedroom apartment

You know what caught me off guard about A blok? The name makes it sound like some communist-era concrete block, but honestly, this one-bedroom spot on Uroša Martinovića is actually pretty fantastic. I mean, Novi Beograd gets a bad rap for being all those identical apartment towers, but when you’re staying right here – you’re basically in the heart of where Belgrade actually lives and works, not just the touristy Stari Grad area everyone talks about.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Belgrade friend let you crash at their place. It’s got that clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and the bedroom actually gets proper quiet at night, which surprised me since you’re surrounded by the city. The kitchen’s legit functional too – I ended up cooking a few meals because there’s this great green market about a ten-minute walk away where locals do their shopping. What I really appreciated was the little details that showed someone actually thought about how people live in a space, not just how it photographs. The shower pressure’s solid, there’s enough outlets where you need them, and the wifi didn’t cut out every time someone in the building started streaming something.

Location-wise, this is where A blok really shines, though it might not be obvious at first glance. You’re walking distance to Delta City if you need that big shopping mall experience, but more importantly, you’re in an actual neighborhood. There’s a decent bakery right around the corner that opens early – proper burek, not tourist stuff – and the tram connections are honestly better than a lot of places in the old town. I found myself taking the tram to Kalemegdan or Skadarlija pretty easily, but then coming back to this area where you can grab dinner at normal Belgrade prices, not inflated tourist ones. The only thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit of a hunt during weekdays since you’re in a residential area where people actually live and work, but evenings and weekends it’s fine. For a 4-star rating, this place punches above its weight – that 9.7 rating makes sense when you realize you’re getting the comfort of a really well-done apartment in a spot where you can actually experience Belgrade like someone who lives here, not just passing through.
