The Experience

Hotel Majestic

You know what struck me first about Hotel Majestic?

You know what struck me first about Hotel Majestic? It’s actually majestic – I mean, the name isn’t just marketing fluff here. Walking up to this place on Obilićev venac, you’re literally stepping into one of Belgrade’s most storied streets, right in the heart of Stari Grad where the cobblestones have seen more history than most European capitals combined. The building itself has this old-world elegance that feels authentic rather than manufactured – probably because it genuinely is from another era, just smartly updated for people who expect their WiFi to work and their showers to have decent pressure (which they do, thankfully).

What really gets me about this spot is how it sits perfectly between tourist Belgrade and local Belgrade. Step outside and you’re maybe three minutes from Knez Mihailova – that’s the main pedestrian drag where everyone ends up eventually – but you’re also surrounded by these tiny kafanas and hole-in-the-wall places that most visitors never discover. The hotel staff actually knows this stuff too, which is rarer than you’d think. I had the front desk guy draw me a little map to this basement jazz club that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms themselves are proper four-star without being stuffy about it – comfortable beds, decent space, and windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, I know). Some face the street, which can get a bit lively on weekend nights, but honestly? That’s Belgrade. You didn’t come here for library-quiet evenings.

Here’s the thing that sold me on this place – it feels like it belongs where it is. Too many hotels in Belgrade either try too hard to be international-fancy or lean so heavily into the “authentic Serbian experience” that it becomes a caricature. Hotel Majestic just… exists comfortably in its neighborhood. The breakfast is solid Serbian fare mixed with standard hotel offerings, the lobby actually has locals meeting for coffee sometimes, and when you ask for directions, people give you real advice instead of just pointing toward the obvious tourist spots. The 8.4 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in the city, but for anyone who wants to stay somewhere with character that won’t break the bank or treat you like you’re on a package tour, this hits the sweet spot. Plus, and this matters more than people admit, the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. No upselling, no complicated key card systems that never work – just friendly efficiency from people who clearly know their neighborhood and seem to genuinely like helping visitors figure it out.

The hotel is really very good and can be highly recommended; the rooms are beautiful, not too big not too small and the pedestrian zone is in front of the building.

Location and high quality bed and breakfast

What could be improved: No English channels on TV - needs BBC or at least an English speaking film channel. Also no kettle or tea making facilities in the room

Hotel Majestic is a gem of a hotel situated in the centre of Belgrade. It has an impressive tradition carried on by its experienced and professional staff. The rooms in the original building have an unassuming sense of style with upgraded bathrooms. Cleanliness is outstanding. Breakfast is plentiful. Being able to dine in the hotel at lunch or in the evenings is a bonus when the Majestic becomes a great place to meet work contacts or friends.

What could be improved: The breakfast coffee could be improved? More fruit!

Prime location, lovely atmosphere of old fashioned city culture. The hotel has got very good restaurants. The staff is exceptional. Thank you Sladjana for your care.

What could be improved: From entrance to elevator are just steps which can be a bit of challenge if you got more luggage. Fortunately the staff is there to help you out.

The location of the hotel is perfect, you can make short walks to very famous places. Hotel was very clean and beds were very comfortable. The attitude of the hotel personnel was so kind and helpful.

What could be improved: The breakfast could be better. Sound transmissivity of the walls was weak due to being an old building. The view is towards courtyard.

The location was exactly at the center of the city.

What could be improved: The bed was so old that I couldn’t sleep because of its creaking.

The hotel is located right at the beginning of the pedestrian street. Within walking distance of everywhere The rooms are spacious. The breakfast is good. The staff is nice and helpful.

What could be improved: The hotel covers a rather large area. To move from one area to another, you have to climb stairs. The elevators are really small.

Location was very central, right on pedestrian zone. The restaurant is classy, breakfast is ok. You can see from the photos on the wall at the reception area that celebrities preferred this hotel in the old days.

What could be improved: The hotel is old style, which is ok but needs some renovation. The bed in our room had such a disturbing noise everytime you turn :( Also because it is on pedestrian zone, you can’t go right in front of the hotel bu car / taxi. We had to carry our suitcases to the corner of the street. We stayed at 314, a twin room and the view was just like on the photo.
