You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Fair Apartment on Svetog Nikole street – I mean, the name’s pretty straightforward, right? But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch in Zvezdara, which if you don’t know Belgrade well, is sort of like finding a cozy neighborhood gem while everyone else is fighting for spots in the touristy center. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Serbian architecture thing going on, and parking… well, you’ll figure it out like the rest of us do in Belgrade (there’s usually a spot somewhere nearby, just be patient).

What really got me was how the place actually feels like an apartment – not some sterile hotel room where everything’s bolted down. The owners clearly put thought into making it livable, with a proper kitchen that you’d actually want to cook in and windows that let in this great morning light. I stayed there during one of those Belgrade summers where the heat just sits on the city like a blanket, and the air conditioning worked like a dream. The neighborhood gets this lovely quiet in the evenings too – you’re close enough to hear life happening but far enough from the main drags that you won’t get woken up by trams or late-night revelers stumbling back from Skadarlija. I mean, if you want to BE one of those revelers, you’re maybe a 15-minute ride to the action, which is honestly perfect timing.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on Fair Apartment though – it’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re living in Belgrade, not just visiting it. There’s a little market just down the street where you can grab fresh bread and those amazing Serbian tomatoes (seriously, try them), and the whole Zvezdara area has this authentic, lived-in feel that you won’t get staying near Republic Square. The apartment itself is clean without being obsessively so, comfortable without trying too hard, and the whole experience just… works. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with fancy lobby chandeliers or concierge services, but that 8.4 rating makes total sense when you realize this is about getting solid value and a genuine taste of how locals actually live. Plus, and I can’t stress this enough, you’ll sleep well here – the street’s quiet, the beds are decent, and there’s something about being in a real neighborhood that just helps you relax in a way those big chain hotels never quite manage.
