Elena Lux
You know what struck me first about Elena Lux?
You know what struck me first about Elena Lux? It’s tucked right into this perfect spot on Gospodar Jovanova where you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet. I mean, you’re literally in Stari Grad – the old town heart of Belgrade – but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or overrun. The building itself has this elegant facade that fits right in with the neighborhood’s mix of 19th-century architecture, and honestly, walking up to it feels more like visiting a well-kept secret than checking into a hotel. The entrance is understated in that European way where luxury doesn’t need to announce itself with marble lobbies and gold everything.
Inside, they’ve nailed that balance between historic charm and actually functional modern comfort – which, let’s be real, isn’t always easy to find in Belgrade’s older buildings. The rooms have high ceilings (you’ll appreciate this in summer) and windows that actually open, something I always check because I hate being trapped with recycled air conditioning. What really won me over was the attention to small details that matter when you’re traveling: proper reading lights, enough outlets near the bed, and bathroom fixtures that don’t require an engineering degree to operate. The staff genuinely knows the area too – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab coffee at 7 AM or which streets to avoid during rush hour. They helped me figure out the best walking route to Kalemegdan Fortress that skips the crowds, and when I mentioned wanting to find a good rakija bar, the guy at reception didn’t just give me a list – he actually drew a little map showing which entrance to use at this place near Skadarlija.
What really makes Elena Lux work is its location in the neighborhood rhythm. You’re close enough to walk to Republic Square or the pedestrian zone in about ten minutes, but far enough from Knez Mihailova that you won’t hear street performers until 2 AM. The morning sounds are actually kind of lovely – church bells from nearby Orthodox churches mixing with the coffee grinder from the bakery around the corner. Parking can be tricky (this is old Belgrade, after all), but the hotel has arrangements with a garage about two blocks away, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see the same shopkeepers and café owners every day, and by the end of a week-long stay, you start to feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary local. It’s a 4-star place with an 8.9 rating that actually feels earned – not because everything is perfect, but because the imperfections feel authentic rather than careless.

What Our Guests Say
Spacious, clean, close to everything. It was great. Especially the powerful shower. Loved it all
We loved our host Elena. She is a lovely woman. We would love to have coffee with her and talk about life. Location is very nice. So close to the Belgrade Fortress.
What could be improved: The flat was inside of a very old building.
Nice well equipped apartment at the city center! Everything you need to see is at walking distance! Clean with enough space for a family of four
What could be improved: Parking the car at the area is a bit challenging!

What could be improved: Is missing a wine corkscrew :) and coat rack.
Everything was great. Location and apartment were great itself.

Perfect location.
What could be improved: Small room is not that comfortable but in general it totalt worthed
We had a wonderful time staying at this apartment. It was beyond my expectations. Our flight was delayed, and we arrived around midnight. Elena and her husband were waiting for us, and they explained how everything works in the apartment. They also accommodated our very early departure. The apartment is very comfortable and has everything we needed. It is very clean and tastefully furnished. The location is very central.
