Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Hotel Downtown on Venizelosova – the name’s pretty generic, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right in the heart of Stari Grad, which means you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Belgrade worth visiting. I mean, you can walk to Skadarlija (Belgrade’s bohemian quarter) in maybe five minutes, and Kalemegdan Park is close enough that you’ll probably end up there for sunset without even planning it.
What really got me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling boutique-y and actually being functional. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe without being sterile – you know what I mean? There’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff, which is rarer than it should be in European city hotels. The beds are properly comfortable too, not just Instagram-pretty. And here’s something I appreciated: the windows actually block out street noise, which matters because Venizelosova can get a bit lively, especially on weekends when people are heading to and from the restaurants around Njegoševa Street. The WiFi works everywhere (tested it obsessively), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on your roof.
The staff here gets it – they’re helpful without being pushy, and they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about where to grab coffee that wasn’t tourist-trap terrible, they pointed me toward this little place on Dositejeva that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, though I’d suggest arriving after 2 PM because they seem to use that time to really get rooms ready rather than just changing sheets and calling it done. The location is honestly what seals the deal though – you’re close enough to walk to the fortress, the pedestrian zone, and some seriously good restaurants, but you’re not right on top of the main tourist drag where it gets chaotic. There’s a decent grocery store just around the corner on Cara Dušana if you need basics, and the tram stop is right there if you want to venture further out. I stayed here during both a quiet Tuesday and a busy Saturday, and while you’ll hear some street life (it’s the city center, after all), it never felt overwhelming. For a 4-star place with a 9.4 rating, it actually lives up to the hype – which, let’s be honest, doesn’t always happen.

What Our Guests Say
Cozy apartment in a new building near the center of the city.
It’s a nice, modern apartment. The bathroom has a heated floor which was very convenient. The location is close to the city centre and there’s a supermarket right beneath the apartment. The bed is comfortable. Communication with the owner via WhatsApp was easy.
What could be improved: It can be a bit noisy in the morning when the lawn in front of the building is being mowed.
Everything was perfect! Good location, close to the city center.
Nice and cozy, very comfirtable bed.

Fantastic apartment close to the center of Belgrade! Totally new, clean, spacious.
Supermarket around the corner ans a good coffee shop. Amazing place to stay. Walking ca. 20 minutes from the "old center".
What could be improved: Nothing, only free parking is depending on how busy shops are. We parked in the parking garage for 10 euros per day.
Friendly host, absolutely amazing place and great location
