You know what struck me first about the Design Hotel Mr President? It’s not trying too hard to be trendy, which honestly makes it more appealing than half the boutique places I’ve stayed at. The building sits right on Karadjordjeva, and if you’re not familiar with Belgrade, that’s actually a pretty sweet spot – you’re basically walking distance from both the old fortress area and the main pedestrian zone, but without the constant street noise that comes with being right in Knez Mihailova.
The design element lives up to its name, though not in that sterile minimalist way that makes you afraid to touch anything. There’s this interesting mix of modern touches with subtle nods to Serbian history – I mean, the name Mr President isn’t exactly subtle, but they handle it well. The rooms have good bones, solid beds, and those little details that matter when you’re actually living in the space for a few days. The bathrooms are properly sized (thank god, because some European hotels seem to think a shoebox with a showerhead counts as luxury), and the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, which shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow still is.
What I really appreciated was the staff’s approach – they know their neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, they didn’t just rattle off the tourist traps near Republic Square. Instead, I got directions to this fantastic little kafana tucked away on a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The breakfast situation is solid without being overwhelming – fresh local ingredients, decent coffee (crucial for surviving Belgrade’s nightlife recovery), and they don’t make you feel rushed even if you stumble down at 10:30 AM. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of the city, but the hotel has arrangements that actually work, unlike some places that promise parking and then wave vaguely toward the street. The 7.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s something refreshingly honest about a place that focuses on doing the fundamentals well rather than chasing Instagram moments. If you’re looking for over-the-top luxury, this isn’t your spot, but if you want a genuinely comfortable base for exploring Belgrade without paying Old Town premium prices, Mr President delivers on that promise.

What could be improved: The internet connection is disastrous in certain parts of the hotel. Since I needed the internet for business, I even had to change rooms to get the proper signal strength.
Choice of this hoel was made according to my business needs. Good staff, good breakfast.
What could be improved: Trams may be a bit noisy.

What could be improved: Wind was blowing in the room from the windows when they were closed, tiles in the bathroom floor were chipped and dangerous and there was no door in the shower and the whole bathroom was all wet after taking a shower.
Nice staff, good location
What could be improved: Not very clean. They don't even clean your room on multiple day stay. Eveything is cold at breakfast, what should be hot: eggs, grilled veggies, sausages. All cold.

The breakfast was great. The location worked for my needs. Staff was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Belgrade is fantastic.
friendly staff, excellent location, near to the waterfront, but also in walking distance from the Usce Park, where we attended a concert :)
What could be improved: lack of investments into refreshing the design of the rooms and overall look/facilities.
Location, nice and very clean rooms. Large enough even for a big family. Breakfast area has a lot of spead. Receptionist (Aleksandr) is very polite.
What could be improved: Breakfast area staff do not care about the guests and they are busy talking. They have no English at all. They sit down in the area and talk while guests are not attended. Restaurant of the hotel does not have any food it is only a coffee shop. However theere is a big menu in the lift and is misleading.
