Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Belgrade, and honestly? Belgrade Waterfront Lux 2 surprised me in the best way possible. When I first walked up to Bulevar Vudroa Vilsona 4, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical – the whole Belgrade Waterfront development can feel a bit too shiny and new sometimes, you know? But stepping inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how people live, not just how things look in photos.

The thing about this place is the details that actually matter. The soundproofing is incredible – and I mean that, because if you’ve ever tried to sleep near the Sava River during summer when everyone’s out partying, you know what a big deal that is. The windows are these massive things that frame the water perfectly, and honestly, watching the sunrise over the river while having coffee in your room… well, it sort of makes you understand why people fall in love with this city. The rooms themselves feel lived-in rather than sterile – there’s proper lighting where you need it (finally, a hotel that gets bedside reading lights right), and the bathroom actually has counter space for your stuff. Small things, but they add up.

What really sold me though was how the staff handled the little things without making a big show of it. When I mentioned I was heading to Skadarlija for dinner, the front desk guy – Marko, I think – just casually mentioned which tram stop would be easier given the construction on Kralja Petra street that week. That’s local knowledge you can’t fake. The location itself is pretty brilliant too – you’re close enough to walk to Kalemegdan when the weather’s nice, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually relax. Plus, there’s decent parking (which, let’s be honest, is half the battle in Belgrade), and you’re literally steps from some of the better restaurants that have opened up in the waterfront area. The 9.8 rating makes sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just… works. And in a city where you never quite know what you’re going to get, that consistency is worth its weight in gold.
