The Danube is just a short walk away, and I’d catch myself heading down there in the evenings just to decompress after exploring the city center all day. Plus, getting into the heart of Belgrade is super easy – there are buses running constantly along Pupina, and the ride takes maybe 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. What I loved most was coming back at night to this quieter side of the river, away from the chaos of Skadarlija and the fortress area.

The apartment itself feels like your Serbian friend decided to lend you their place for a week. Everything’s thoughtfully set up – the kitchen actually has proper equipment (not those sad little hotel coffee makers), there’s decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the bed is genuinely comfortable. I mean, after walking around Belgrade’s cobblestone streets all day, you really appreciate a good mattress. The owners clearly put effort into making it feel welcoming rather than just functional. The only thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit warm in summer – these tower blocks weren’t exactly designed with climate control in mind – but there’s AC, and honestly, that’s more than you’ll find in a lot of Belgrade accommodations. The whole area comes alive in the evening with locals heading to the nearby cafes and restaurants, and there’s something really authentic about grabbing groceries at the small shops nearby instead of eating every meal at tourist restaurants. If you want to experience Belgrade like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, this is exactly the kind of place that makes that possible.
