ARTA LUX – Galerija Beograd na vodi – Belgrade Waterfront

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first booked ARTA LUX – I mean, Belgrade Waterfront is still pretty new and sometimes these developments can feel soulless, you know? But walking into this place on Vudroa Vilsona actually surprised me. The lobby has this gallery vibe (hence the name, I guess) with rotating art exhibitions that aren’t just generic hotel art – we’re talking actual Serbian contemporary pieces that made me stop and look. The staff genuinely seemed to know the artists too, which was a nice touch.

What really won me over was the attention to small things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms are spacious in a way that’s rare for European hotels – I could actually open my suitcase without rearranging furniture. The beds are properly firm (not that weird hotel-soft that kills your back), and honestly, the blackout curtains are some of the best I’ve encountered. You’ll sleep well here, even with the city energy right outside. The bathrooms have heated floors, which sounds fancy but is actually just practical during Belgrade’s damp spring months. I loved that they stock local toiletries from a Serbian brand instead of the usual international stuff – small detail, but it shows they’re thinking beyond the basics.

The location is sort of perfect if you want to experience both sides of Belgrade. You’re literally steps from the Sava riverfront where locals jog and walk their dogs in the evenings, but you can also easily walk to Knez Mihailova for shopping or catch a taxi to Skadarlija for dinner. The Galerija mall is right there if you need anything (great coffee shop on the third floor, by the way), and the whole waterfront area comes alive at sunset with people just hanging out by the water. Parking is actually manageable here – they have a garage, which anyone who’s driven in Belgrade will appreciate. The trams run regularly from nearby, though honestly, most of central Belgrade is walkable from here. One thing to know: weekend evenings can get lively with the restaurants and bars in the development, but it’s more buzzy than disruptive. The 9.8 rating makes sense when you add it all up – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Belgrade, but everything just works really well, and the staff clearly cares about getting the details right.
